About Lowertown Bar & Cafe

Lowertown Bar & Cafe is a coffee shop by day and a cocktail bar by night on Ann Arbor's Northside, at 1031 Broadway. Mornings run on Hyperion coffee: lattes, cortados, cold brew, matcha, and pastries from Botanical Bakeshop and Beara Bakes. Around dinnertime the same room turns into a bar, with espresso martinis, house and classic cocktails, Michigan beer, wine and a full zero-proof list. The patio has fire pits when it's cold and open sky all summer, and dogs are welcome outside. Food trucks park out front most evenings. Tuesday trivia, R&D Wednesday cocktail nights, comedy, Premier League watch parties and community events all year. Free parking in the U-M lot across the street after 5pm and all day on weekends.

Great spot to work or hang out! They have plenty of outdoor seating with shade, as well as awesome booths inside. I had Marty's Matcha (matcha lemonade) and it was delicious!

My favorite cafe in Ann Arbor! I go here almost every day. The coffee and cocktails are great. The vibes inside are immaculate: large sturdy tables, comfy booths bordering the walls, large windows and skylights that brighten up the place even during the winter. Really nice outdoor seating area too. The staff is incredibly kind and fun to chat with, and they work hard to create a sense of community. They host various events throughout the year, including sports watch parties, a book club, a vintage market, etc.

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately they’ve ruined it. I’ve been here twice and I will never return. The workers have horrible attitudes and they act as if they’re better than their customers. I’m shocked they were hired in the first place, but hopefully they were just having a bad day. Please, Lowertown, do better!!! Also, coffee is subpar- not worth $6. And parking is HORRIBLE! The owner thinks there’s always spots available, but that’s just not the case.

It was pretty good. Decent coffee and service. I didn't get anything to eat, so I can't comment on the food so much as the drink. I'd go here if you're close by and want something, but it doesn't seem like the place I'd go out of my way to visit again, especially since parking is a hassle to find.

Was kind of disappointed to walk in and see that there's no WiFi or coffee after 5pm....wish they could take a note from York. (Though they are open later than York which is nice!) Limited snack selection. Was also disappointed that the espresso wasn't the best I've ever had, but I will be back bc the vibes were good! They have a huge selection of NA and mocktail drinks. Didn't try a cocktail, but will be back to enjoy one in the nice outdoor space they have. Also make sure you park in the lot labeled M87 across the street as there is very little parking here
